




Christine L Zupancic is the first NCCAOM Board Cerrtified Acupuncturist serving the Lorain County area for years. Christine originally graduated from Hiram College years ago with a pre-med qualifications. Having an avid interest in the medical systems of numerous cultures, and parents who used acupuncture, mechanotherapy and chiropractice medicine on a regular basis, she pursued a clinical and research oriented career.
Christine completed a double masters' degree in Anthropology M.A. and Public Health M.S.H.P. to further her knowledge of the various medical systems that have been used for thousands of years. Her local research of herbal medicine in American culture, "Medicinal Plant Usage Among American Women" (1997)was presented at professional meetings throughout the United States. Her research also examined the use of therapy in American culture in, "A Comparison of the Buckhorn Model of Therapy in American Culture in the United States" (2001) utilized at the Presbyterian Child Welfare Center/ Buckhorn Children Center in Buckhorm, Kentucky where Christine completed one of her master's degree on-site internships.
She has traveled extensively throughout Central America where she previously worked on a research project "The Maya Mountains Archaeological Project" funded by the National Geographic Society. During that time, she worked closely with the Kek'chi Maya of Belize, studying their traditional herbal and healing medicines. Additionally, she has lived in Guatemala studying Spanish as a second language and has traveled in Italy on research as well.
After 8 years in a teaching and research career, Christine returned to the Florida College of Integrative Medicine for fours years of Traditional Chinese Medical school. She became an expert in treating patients with Acupuncture, Auriculotherapy (ear acupuncture), Tongue and Pulse Diagnosis, Tui Na massage, electrical acupuncture, and Chinese herbal formulas. She holds the NCCAOM Board certification for Acupuncture (National Commission Certification for Acupunture and Oriental Medicine)- the defining guideline to use when chosing an acupuncturist and is additionally certified in Clinical Acupuncture Laser Therapy by the AAOM.
Christine has been in practice for seven years and is taking patients at her business, ACUPUNCTURE WORKS, INC. with offices located in both Avon Lake, Ohio and Oberlin, Ohio.
